Complexity of the Brain: Structure, Function and Dynamics

چکیده
The 'complexity of the brain' is reviewed in terms of structural, functional and dynamic complexity. Dendritic patterns, networks and modules are mentioned as complex structures at different levels of neural organization. The functioning of single cells, small networks serving as central pattern generators, and learning systmes are examples of functional complexity. Synchronous oscillation, chaos and control of chaos illustrate the dynamic complexity of the brain.
